Medical Staff & Medications
The Heartland Hockey Camp will be staffed with a full time nurse or EMT. All illnesses and injuries will be attended to by our medical staff. In those situations that require additional medical assistance, the campers will be taken to the Cuyuna Medical Center, conveniently located just six miles north of the Heartland Hockey Camp. At the time of registration, we will have a book that you should register any medical problems and medications. Our nurse will administer the medications at the appropriate times.
Heartland Hockey Camp is a very secure and structured environment and we make camper safety our number one priority. Our mature, skilled, and enthusiastic staff provides superior supervision, with a four to one camper to counselor ratio. Our entire staff resides at the camp with the campers and each of our staff members are hand picked for their nurturing and caring people skills. To further ensure our campers safety and well-being, we have installed a new state-of-the-art DVD video surveillance system. Our 20 cameras are strategically located throughout our 80 acre campus. This security feature allows our staff members the advantage of monitoring all camp activities 24 hours a day.
Hockey camp students are required to bring their own protective equipment. Students should also bring a weeks supply of recreational and athletic clothing, towels and personal items. The Heartland Hockey Camp has a complete laundry facility. Campers are responsible for supplying their own bedding. Sleeping bags are preferred.
Check In and Check Out
Hockey camp students should arrive on Sunday, anytime between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Check out time is noon on Saturday
Banking and Security
All campers will be offered the option of securing their spending money in our banking system. Campers will have the option of secured dorm rooms. There will be a refundable deposit of $5.00 for all keys to secured rooms. In addition, all campers will be provided with a private locker room storage area.
The campers have adult-supervised options during their scheduled recreation times. These include swimming, water skiing, tubing, boating, canoeing, fishing, and other water sports at our private beach on Portage Lake, located directly adjacent to the Heartland Hockey Camp. Other adult-supervised options available during recreation time include volleyball, field sports, roller hockey, basketball, weight lifting, golf, tennis and miniature golf. If your camper has a strong desire to play golf, tennis or fish, he/she should bring his/her clubs, racket or fishing pole.
Hockey Camp Fee and Deposit
A 50% deposit is required for each application. This deposit will reserve your selected camp. When we have received your application, we will immediately contact you by mail, confirming your registration. You will also receive a pre-camp information packet. THE REMAINING BALANCE IS DUE ON OR BEFORE May 31. STUDENTS WITH BALANCES UNPAID AFTER MAY 31 WILL FORFEIT THEIR RESERVED CAMP SELECTION AND THEIR DEPOSIT. Payments in full at time of application are acceptable. We request that you send a post dated check along with our application and deposit to ensure this in not overlooked.
The one-week skills camp fee is $1,500.00. This fee covers the cost of the instructional staff, extensive ice time, room, meals, recreational activities, power shooting and hockey camp jerseys. Families registering more than one child will receive a $50.00 discount off the total of the children’s rates. Day campers will only be accepted at the reduced rate of $1,200.00 during the sessions of June 17-23 and June 24-30. However, day campers will be admitted at full price during any other sessions throughout the summer.
No refunds will be given after May 31, or due to late arrival or early departure. Your deposit will be credited and applied to a future camp fee. For those campers who find it necessary to cancel before May 31, there will be a 25% fee for administrative costs. There will be no refunds for credits unused, also, no refund if a student is expelled, or does not attend or leaves on their own accord. There is no date deadline for camp registration. We will accept applications until the camps are full. Final balances due date, for applicants registering early, is May 31, 2018. Campers may apply to any open camps anytime after May 31, 2018 until each particular camp is full. There will be a late fee of $50.00 accessed to all second payments not received by May 31, 2018.
*Applications will be accepted after May 31, 2018, for any camp, if space is available at the time. After May 31, 2018, the application must be accompanied by payments in full, however, there will be no late charge assessed.
Our dorm rooms vary in size, as a result, each camper will have the opportunity to request his/her roommate. Please indicate your requested roommates on our application form, as this will assure you that your desires will be met. Our rooms can accommodate groups ranging from two to 10 campers.
Saturday Stay Overs
If it is more cost efficient or convenient for you, we will allow campers to come in a day early or stay over an extra day for a cost of $100.00. This fee will include lodging Saturday night and meals on Saturday and Sunday, extensive ice and recreational opportunities.
Travel and Transportation
We will pick up and drop off at the Brainerd Airport at anytime. The fee for this service is $50.00 roundtrip. We will also pick up at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport on Saturdays only. We will meet unaccompanied minors at the gate and bring them to our shuttle vehicle. Our shuttle will leave the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport at 6:00pm. Please arrange your child's arrival time to be no later than 5:30pm. We will drop campers off at 12:00pm on the following Saturday. Please arrange your child's departure time to be no earlier than 1:00pm. In the event that you find it necessary to depart at an earlier time, there will be an additional charge of $50.00. The fee for the Twin Cities shuttle is $175.00 one way. Travel arrangements and payment must be made and confirmed with us at least two weeks in advance. There will be an additional fee of $50.00 for any travel requests received less than 2 weeks in advance.
